Born in Glasgow, Scotland Yvonne grew up with British Sign Language (BSL) as her second language. After studying formally and registering as an interpreter, Yvonne went on to gain experience in agencies, charities, television, theatres and the Arts generally before becoming freelance. Yvonne’s first experience of theatre interpreting was at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1995. Since then she has interpreted for performances ranging from community theatre to full scale productions, nationally and internationally including Contemporary, Classical, Comedy, Dance, Devised, Musical, Pantomime etc.

Inspired by Deaf audience feedback Yvonne developed her interpreting style, integrating with performances and consulting on equity of experience. Yvonne is resolute in working alongside Deaf and hearing professionals to consider auditory & cultural experience of performance and to consciously meld BSL onstage as part of small or full scale multi-disciplinary productions.

While being kept busy with a young son, Yvonne continues to be committed to personal and professional development. Having worked nationally to contribute to the Arts and BSL/English Interpretation, she also continues to gain skills in International Sign and to increase her knowledge of Arts relating to the Deaf community Worldwide.
